“Go where you are celebrated—not tolerated. If they can’t see the real value of you, it’s time for a new start.” Unknown
I recently heard a commencement speaker say to a group of graduates to find an organization that appreciates your talent and skills. I believe that is true but first you must achieve three things before you look for an organization to celebrate and appreciate your talent, contribution and skills. First be the person that gets things done. Have you ever been held up from completing your task because you were waiting on someone else? Create a reputation in your company that complete your task in a timely manner and you are dependable. Second do your job well with a spirit of excellent in that speaks volume. You’ve heard the saying that let your work speak for you and that is true. You don’t have to spend time talking about all you’ve done your performance will do the speaking. Finally be the person everyone wants to work with; in that learn to get alone with people. You don’t have to see eye to eye with everyone but you should be able to work with everyone. People like to be around likable people in that people are pleasant, professional and performance driven. If you keep this as your focus people don’t mind working on a team with you. If you accomplish these three things your skills and talents will be appreciated and celebrated.
