“Kindness is the language which the deaf can hear and the blind can see.” Mark Twain
One day I was in a crowded post office and ran into an elderly lady from another ethnicity and she was in search of a certain form to complete so she could mail her parcel. I found myself helping her search for the form and yet between the both of us we couldn’t locate the form. Meanwhile I informed her to cut the line and ask the teller. The teller was able to get her the correct form. After she completed the form she got to the end of the long line and when I noticed along with a couple that she went to the end of the line we beckoned for her to come to front with us. She insisted yet with our persistence she came to the front and stood between me and the couple but I insisted that she get in front of me. Why did I insist on her getting in front of me because I viewed her as someone that I looked up to and desired to take care of her as she was my grandmother. Just as we exhibited this small act of kindness we were able to bring joy to her face as she was very thankful and appreciative.
In today’s society acts of kindness seems to be far and few as people are self -absorbed and consumed, busy going places and in a hurry to get to their destination. Acts of kindness is helping others and being fulfilled. Acts of kindness is giving of your time, resources, making a sacrifice, and not looking for anything in return. Then the question becomes what we can do to make the world a better place it’s through acts of kindness, how to overcome hate, dissensions, contention is through it’s through acts of kindness. I encourage you to try acts of kindness at every opportunity and it will bring you such immense inner joy!
