Born To Win

“The greater the obstacle, the more glory in overcoming it.” Moliere

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33 (NIV)

In life we all face challenging times. Yet what we must understand is that God has given us a promise in John 16:33. That promise is that whatever we face or encounter God’s great power has defeated it. In John 16:33 the one thing we can experience is peace in God. God comes to give you and I peace in the midst of our difficult moments. What I have learned is that God desires for us to live a life of peace and tranquility. Peace in God is having an inner disposition of calmness. Achieving inner peace is contrary to what you are experiencing. It is possible to experience such a level of peace inwardly.

As a believer in Christ you have been positioned to win (overcome) in every situation you face. There is nothing that you face God cannot aide you to overcome or endure. There is not a situation that you will face that you do not have the ability to withstand with the grace of God. God gives us his word in 2 Corinthians 12:9 when he states “my grace is sufficient.” This was God’s response to Paul when he requested on three occasions for God to remove the throne. When Jesus Christ prevailed over death and burial His resurrections serve as our indicator that God will aide you to overcome any situation thus you are born to win!

I want to give you three principles to apply when you face adversity and as a reminder that you were born to win:

  1. Know, there is more in you than what is on you! You have the strength and capability with the help of God to endure and manage your adversity. You are stronger than you give yourself credit for and you have the indwelling of the Spirit of Christ living inside of you. The word of God in 1 John 4:4 states; ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world. I love this quote by Christian Larson “Believe in yourself and all that you are. Know that there is something inside you that is GREATER than any obstacle”.
  2. Keep HopingHebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Don’t lose hope because it doesn’t feel good or the outlook is discouraging. We walk by faith and not by sight. Hope is the substratum of your faith. If you stop hoping, then your faith has nothing to draw from. Don’t allow your tribulation to defeat your hope.
  3. Be Thankful! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 In everything givethanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you. When you face adversity or challenges it is the propensity to be negative. We are conditioned to be negative and see worse side of a situation. You have to reprogram yourself and eliminate complaining and embrace the truth of your reality. Then find the good in the situation. In every situation good, bad or indifferent learn to thank God! Be optimistic and learn from your situation. When you possess a grateful heart you position yourself to win and not allow your challenges to defeat you. This doesn’t mean you will not feel discouraged at times it’s that you refuse to allow your adversity to win!
