God Is Faithful

by Dr. Regina Campbell

Hebrews 13:5 NLV

“…God has said, “I will never leave you or let you be alone.

“God’s strength behind you, His concern for you, His love within you, and His arms beneath you are more than sufficient for the job ahead of you.” William Arthur Ward

God’s faithfulness is comforting in that you can rest assure that God will never leave you nor forsake you. This passage is a promise that should comfort us in any situation we face knowing that God will be there every step of the way. In growing up I was comforted when I faced a situation and my parents were there to walk me through the process. I remembered going to college and having my parents there as I enrolled and moved into the dormitory. However it didn’t dawn on me that my parents had to leave me alone as I embarked upon this new journey on my own. I remembered feeling overwhelmed and a sense of loneliness as I watched my parents drive away. However my mother shared with me God will be with you and He’ll always be by your side. My mother went on to say God is ever present and at times you will not feel as if God is with you but He will always be the one you can count on.

It was in college that I truly had to draw off of my mother’s word of wisdom and God’s promise that he will never leave me nor forsake me. This passage is a promise gives us three principles to understand. One God is ever present and that God will always be present in every situation that you’ll face. There is no situation that you’ll face alone. Second God’s faithfulness is not contingent upon if you feel His presence but it’s a sure fact that God is omnipresent.  There is no place that you will go or have been and God is not there or hasn’t been there. God is everywhere all at the same time. You may not be able to be there for your love ones but God can be there and that’s most important. Thirdly, this passage teaches us that God will be with us even when we are not faithful to God. God loves us deeply in that God will constantly be with us even when we fall short of our commitment to God. God knows mankind’s frailties can impedes his/her commitment yet God is faithful. Finally as my mother taught me I can always count on God. I have had many people to say I will be there for you but when I looked around life happened and they were not able to be there. I firmly believe people have good intentions but there circumstances can prohibit them from fulfilling their promise of always being there. I have learned that God’s love and presence is steadfast and faithful. This is what you must count on and trust and that God can be trusted to be with you always.
