Focus on Being Healthy Not Your Size

As I grow and mature I am learning that my dress size is not as important as my health. Many of us have been programed to focus on the size of the dress or pants but with this mindset we set ourselves up for disappointment and feelings of inadequacy. First we must understand that our health is very important and when we focus on being healthy from the perspective of what we eat, the activities that we engage in, and how we take care of our bodies’ leads to a healthy life style. In addition it’s getting the proper rest and living a life that is honorable and pleasing to God. A healthy life consists of how and what you do to your body that matters as well. In addition you have to understand your family history and how you may be prone to certain aliments. For example if high blood pressure runs in your family then find out how and what you can do to combat high blood pressure. Finally your body weight and composition is totally different from others. For instant I was in the gym and I noticed a lady working out and I said to myself “I would love to be able to do what she does and have the body type she has” and then I thought to myself if God wanted me to have her body type He would have given it to me. In addition, there is no way I can have her body type because our DNA is not the same. Therefore that was wishful thinking on my part when my DNA will only produce the body type that comes from my parents. We too often are wishing for a certain size and look when it is impossible because of the family DNA. Yet focus on healthy living so you can become the best version of yourself.
