Focus on what Remains

As we are in the midst of this dark and tumultuous Pandemic many have experienced losses. Those losses could be a love one, employment and aspects of one’s life. Despite what you may have loss first you must admonish and acknowledge how difficult it was to loss whatever you lose. You may be hurting emotionally but that is normal and expected. At times you may feel lost and have no idea how you will survive. In addition, you will experience a myriad of feelings (embarrassed, ashamed, fearful and lonely) but that is a part of the process. I am reminder of the story of Job in scripture, he lost everything; children and material possession. However, he remained faithful to God. Therefore, I want you encourage to be grateful for what still remains in your life. Who you still have or what you still have. No you may not live in a house on the hill no longer, or drive a certain type of car, or maybe you had to downsize something or maybe you can’t enjoy the luxury a spa treatment because you need to make some adjustment in your spending. The key is to find the rainbow in your situation and focus your time, attention and energy on what you still have. Thus take inventory of what you have left and count that as a blessing. Finally give meaning to what you still have. For example, if you had to downsize from a house to an apartment and you still have your health and your family then be grateful that you have place to live, good health and your family. To give meaning is to say I have a home and a family, no it’s not what you lose but it’s your home and you have the right to call it your home! You make it what it is. So whatever you have remaining you make must make it something endearing. In closing take some time today and take inventory of what you still have and thank God!
